Project Description: Neff & Associates provided surveying, civil engineering, and landscape architectural services for the new Cleveland Headquarters and Shipyard Facility Complex located on the old Cuyahoga River bed and ship channel and was a Brownfield Redevelopment site. Constructed on the site of the old American Shipbuilding Corporation shipyard that operated in the early 1900s, the site, with 100-year old buildings and structures, was first identified as an early “superfund” site, then remediated to a “brownfield” site and restored for industrial use.
Neff & Associates was involved in the incorporation of a stringent Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan including, new bulk heading, the installation of a new sanitary system, and a bio-retention basin to filter sediments from rainwater run-off and to replenish the underground aquifer. The design for this project was completed in 2005. Neff & Associates also provided the construction staking for this project during the construction phase of this project.
